Only make 1 flat. If you make 2, they will fight each other. Use M3 socket head screws not the set screws. Use blue loctite after it's all lined up and verified. Remove one screw at a time when adding loctite so one is always holding.

Aligning pulleys:
you may need to jog all the way back and forth a few times to see if the belt stays away from the toothed pulley's edges. do not use Loctite until you are sure of the alignment. as you can see in the pictures above, it takes the spacer and precision shim to get the idler pulley out far enough.

I tension my 9mm wide 3GT3 belts to 3.8lbs at an inch lift in the middle of a 1000mm rail. This is reference only. I am not responsible for damage to your machine if you use my numbers.
